We’ve been keeping track of known issues that users have submitted. If you are experiencing issues and you need help tracking where the issue originates, check out Debugging eduTrac SIS.

Issues that have been made known to us by other users are listed below.

Blank Page

During installation, after the database tables are installed, the page then goes blank.

There are about 80 tables and a few of them need to be altered during installation. Which means it will take anywhere between 30 – 60 seconds to install depending on your setup. Therefore you may need to increase the maximum upload file size limit, the memory capacity limit, or the PHP max execution time in your php.ini.

Parse Error

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘.

eduTrac SIS only works on servers where the PHP version is at a minimum of 5.4.

Offline Mode

After installation, the site is in offline mode.

This actually isn’t an issue, but a feature of eduTrac SIS. When you first install the system, the site is placed in offline mode because it is a new installation. To disable offline mode, visit Screens > Administrative > General Settings and set myeT Mode to “Online”.

404 Not Found

After installation, I keep getting 404 Not Found error messages.

If you are running an Apache server, you must make sure that that the .htaccess file is present and readable in the root of the installation. The rewrite rules are located on the installation article. If you are still having 404 issues even though the .htaccess file is present, you may need to adjust them a bit in order to work on your server.

Your Account is Deactivated

If you get the message “Your Account is Deactivated” when trying to log in, here are a few things to check.

  1. Is the person a staff/faculty member? Does he/she have an active staff record?
  2. Is the person a student? Does he/she have an active student record?
If your answer is “no” to the second half of at least one of the questions above, and you have no idea what to do, then you must not have read Getting Started (Administrative => Person Management).

Unexpected Character

If you can’t install eduTrac SIS because you get the following error message, that means you are using an older version of PHP which does not support namespaces. You need to make sure that your server meets the following requirements.

Warning: Unexpected character in input: ‘\’ (ASCII=92) state=0
